STEP UP GRADUATE AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
- Since 2017, Lafarge Zambia has been running an Employment CSR pillar initiative called Step Up. As a result of the prevailing high youth unemployment rates in Zambia, and the lack of real work experience amongst young graduates. Step up was born to bridge that gap.
- Step Up’ is an 18 month Graduate Trainee Program, that aims at building a strong talent pipeline for the succession planning gaps experienced.
Step Up is a two-phase program:
- Phase 1 gives an end-to-end understanding of the business chain, LafargeHolcim’s strategic priorities and our over-arching values (Commercial Transformation and Health & Safety):
- Phase 2 gives a holistic view of how businesses are run:
A rigorous selection process is done over a period of 3 months and 11 trainees and 21 interns are selected each year. In 2018, 80 per cent of the trainees we are placed in permanent positions. The trainee programme has been very successful in filling the talent pipeline.
