Lafarge Zambia Plc releases new product - Powercrete

Lafarge Zambia Plc on the 30th January 2015 launched its sixth product, Powercrete which is specifically made for underground mining activities. Lafarge Zambia In the past five years has evolved from a single product company to a company specializing in six application based products.

The launch event was held at Moba Hotel in Kitwe on 30th January 2015 and was attended by the Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary, Rev. Haward Sikwela and the Lafarge Zambia Chief Financial Officer Mrs. Chrissie Moloseni.

The Lafarge Zambia CFO Chrissie Moloseni introduced the product by saying “Lafarge Zambia is proud to announce the introduction of a 6th brand-Powercrete which is specifically designed to meet the needs of the underground mining activities”. Mrs Moloseni further said “innovative products and solutions are what make Lafarge Zambia a leader in construction solutions as well as a pioneer in the construction and mining sectors in Zambia”.

Meanwhile the Copperbelt Province Permanent secretary Haward Sikwela thanked Lafarge for being a partner in all infrastructure development across the country saying, “Government has and will always consider Lafarge Zambia as a partner fostering infrastructure development throughout the country, this is demonstrated in Zambia’s iconic buildings built by Lafarge cement such as Heroes Stadium in Lusaka and the road development happening throughout the Copperbelt and the country.

The objective of Powercrete is to provide Zambia’s mining sector with a top of the range product that has unique and useful features. The first feature is that Powercrete comes in a 25kg waterproof bag that is environmentally friendly and allows great ease of handling due to the bags lighter weight. The second is that Powercrete’s ability to set rapidly improves the speed of ore extraction supported by applications such as backfilling, rock bolting, stopping and shotcreting.
